"Now THIS is interesting..."

Have you ever started out to do one thing but ended up doing something different?

Night and day different?

Remember how Post-It Notes were invented?

Some guy was trying to come up with a "permanent" glue.

Obviously he failed... and he considered it a failure... but 3M had another idea.

The guy was all of a sudden Joe Brilliant.

Well, I'm feeling a bit like Joe today.

But this is much more interesting to you than Post-It Notes...

It's about s - e - x... sorta.

Not dirty, I'm talking about couple's stuff here.

My new book just came out today about it.

But it didn't start off that way at all.

In fact ... get this... I was co-writing a book with medical researcher Frank Mangano on lowering blood pressure without meds... really.

So how did this big U-turn occur?

Okay, okay.... funny, true story:

I read this article from a medical journal about how "lowering blood pressure would help sexual-performance-problems."

Ding. The light bulb went off in my head.

You see, lowering blood pressure is probably the most healthy thing you can do for yourself.

But face it -- it's really, really BORING.

I mean, who really cares about their blood pressure unless their doctor says, "Look, lower your blood pressure or you'll die in six months."

Then you care.

Are you with me?

I'm right and we all know it.

Heck, I was the same way.

I ignored my blood pressure for years until it hit stroke-level back in my 30s.

Then I could no longer ignore it.

I found every natural alternative possible... which led me to Frank's books... and they are the BEST.

So Frank comes to me and asks me to contribute to his very popular on-the-shelf book "The Blood Pressure Miracle" --

... and I said,

"Hey, guess what I just read?"

Since he's the researcher, I said, "Go see if there's any truth to this."

The results BLEW MY MIND.

Have you Heard About the Stopwatch Diet System?

Millions of people around the world fight with their weight, and they aim towards weight loss. Most of them suffer with this ordeal for many years until they finally find the formula that works best for them. With so many fad diets and pills on the market, it can be frustrating to know which one works best.

Today a new way that people are starting to lose weight is known as the stop watch method. The general rule of thumb with this method is to remember that you typically only have food cravings approximately every eight to fourteen minutes. Based on this fact, you can do a better job of not giving in to cravings

In this stopwatch program the real secret to success with the stop watch method is to be fully aware of the signals your body is sending you. If you feel hungry, simply stop for a few minutes and think about it. How truly hungry are you, or do you just want to eat something? Opt for water instead and see if you still fee hungry afterward.  If so, then progress to the healthy snack and see how you feel.

How this stopwatch diet works is not so much the fact that you begin drinking more water or eating healthier foods as it is the fact that you're gaining discipline. Self control is the key to kicking addictions and the key to accomplishing goals.

Resturant Tricks to Get Us to Eat More

Over eating is one of the ways to break your diet program.  Eating out you may just find that your favorite restaurant is working against your own self control.   There is a science that restaurants use to trick you into eating more than you really want.

Cornell University researcher food psychologist Brian Wansink has researched the science of restaurant reflexes.  The results may just surprise you.

First - Watch how many categories you order from the start.  The wine list, the appetizer, the main course, the side item and the deserts can really cause you to over eat and not realize it till too late.  He suggests that once you have picked your main course that you only order from 2 of the categories, such as an appetizer and a cocktail or a roll and desert.

Second - Unnatural lighting makes us less aware of how  much we are eating. The lights are dimmed in order to have you stay longer and have that extra glass of wine or the desert.  Brightly lit restaurant dinners tend to eat their food very fast getting full before they know it. His suggestion is to take a full 20 minutes to enjoy your meal no matter what type of restaurant.  It takes your body that much time to register your are full.

Third - Dinning with a partner may cause us to eat 35% more than dinning alone.  Former Georgia State university psychologist John De Castro found that eating with 3 increased the number 75%.  Wansink thinks this may just be etiquette, in not wanting to the first one done eating.  He suggest that you start after the others and reserve a few bits to have at the end and avoid being finished first.

Fourth - What you food is served on will make a difference in how much you will eat.  Fancy china verse paper plates have an effect on us.  It is believed that we will eat 90% of the food in front of us, no matter what size the serving dish is.  You may want to ask for half portion or share and entree or ask for that to-go box.

Fifth -  A cleaned off table can deceive you on how much you have eaten.  Brian Wansink used volunteers to see how this worked. They were invited to have all the chicken wings they wanted.  Some of the tables were cleared of the eaten food and some were not.  He found that the cleared table eaters ate 28% more than the not cleared tables.  As your dishes are cleared try to make a mental tally of all your courses to avoid overeating.

Lastly - Did you know that even the name of the items on a menu have an effect on what we order?  The term "homemade" will have you ordering something before a more generic term.
